Gas Design Engineer

Mark has over 20 years’ experience working in the UK gas industry, working on projects of all sizes ranging from small domestic developments to 50MW power generation projects.

Mark joined Transco in 1997, quickly working his way up to the role of Design Assistant, responsible for below 7bar designs for small network extensions and domestic developments.

In 1999 Mark moved to Fulcrum Connections as a Design Engineer responsible for below 7bar designs for on-off Industrial & Commercial projects. While at Fulcrum Connections Mark became GIRS accredited in Design for below 7bar networks. While at Fulcrum, Mark progressed to the role of Senior Design Engineer where he manged the GIRS below 7bar engineering team and was responsible for 20 members of staff ranging from admin to Design Engineers and ensuring the best engineering solution was delivered on all client projects. He also managed the End-to-End AS260 Quality Audits to ensure all staff were up to date with Skills & Technical Competencies/Business Competency Assessment Matrix records. Mark was also the technical advisor for intermediate pressure designs and complex projects.

In 2006 Mark undertook the role as Design Manager in the de-regulated connections market where he was responsible for the day to day operation of Fulcrum’s GIRS compliant below 7bar connections. Some of Mark’s new responsibilities were, to plan and manage all workload within the design house, ensure Fulcrum met its safety, contractual, legislative and regulatory obligations, provide technical advice to the business, prepare complex projects and carbon reduction/infill gas schemes for tender and continue to be the technical advisor for intermediate pressure and complex projects. Mark also managed the preparation of technical designs and quotations ensuring that all work is carried out in line with Codes of Practice, legislation and relevant Network & IGT policies and procedures. He ensured records were maintained of work activities to satisfy Fulcrum, customer/client and legal requirements.

Mark joined CNG Services Limited in 2017 as Gas Design Engineer, responsible for <7bar pipeline designs in the UK’s fastest growing CNG, Biomethane and Shale Gas consultancy and delivery business.
