Senior Project Manager
Stephen joined British Gas North Western in 1978 as an Apprentice Gas Service Engineer. He was then offered and accepted a place on the Gas Engineering Technician Apprenticeship (GETA) scheme. In 1983 he was appointed as a trainee Industrial Engineer where he developed his knowledge and experience to cover the design, specification and project management of industrial & commercial gas connections / metering and plant installations. In addition his role covered the negotiation and administration of gas supply contracts with new and existing industrial and commercial customers.
Following the restructuring of British Gas in 1995 Stephen joined BG Transco providing a customer focused service to gas suppliers, developers and end users. He was later appointed as Asset Support Manager; his role was to manage the efficient delivery of contracts with service providers. A significant element was to performance manage the Connections standards of service with a team of engineers delivering customer services to Gas Transporters and Independent Connection Providers
Stephen joined Lattice Energy Services as Project Development Manager in 2001, developing gas connection and associated works from design through to construction. In 2003 the business was taken over by United Utilities.
In 2005 he took on the role of Service Delivery Manager for United Utilities Connections business further expanding his skills into multi-utility projects. The role covered the management of activities for both bid development and construction of contracted work. From initial enquiry bids were managed through design, tendering and development to commercial sign off and delivery to the client. Successful bids were then managed to meet all contractual, statutory, health and safety obligations. Stephen was also responsible for delivering multi and single utility infrastructure projects outside United Utilities geographical boundaries. He managed a team of designers, project managers, construction engineers, quantity surveyors and administration support. Contract values ranged from £50k to £4M+ with circa £20M of contracts being managed per annum with major house builders and commercial developers.
Prior to joining CNG Services, Stephen had been with Veolia Water since 2010 as Project Manager for the delivery of major projects for the Infrastructure Services business. The projects were for major UK companies and covered gas, water and power infrastructure design and build contracts.
